Gender in Development

ENAI-Africa is dedicated to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in South Rift of Kenya. We implement programs that address the unique challenges faced by women and girls, promoting their rights and creating opportunities for their socio-economic advancement. Through gender sensitization trainings, we raise awareness about gender-based discrimination, violence, and harmful cultural practices. We also advocate for policy reforms that promote women’s rights and gender equality at all levels.

ENAI-Africa recognizes the importance of engaging men and boys in promoting gender equality and challenging harmful gender norms. In South Rift Counties, we facilitate men’s forums and community dialogues that encourage men to become allies in the fight for gender justice. Through these platforms, we foster discussions on masculinity, fatherhood, and gender roles, aiming to create a more inclusive and equitable society where men and women can thrive together.

Education is a powerful tool for transforming gender norms and empowering girls and women in Africa. ENAI-Africa supports initiatives that promote girls’ education and create safe and inclusive learning environments. We provide mentorship programs, and awareness campaigns to encourage girls to stay in school, combat gender-based violence, and challenge societal barriers. Through our efforts, we are witnessing a significant increase in girls’ enrollment and academic achievement in these South Rift Counties.

ENAI-Africa works closely with local authorities and community leaders to combat gender-based violence (GBV) in Kajiado County. We provide training to law enforcement agencies, healthcare professionals, and community members on GBV prevention, response, and support services. We establish safe spaces and shelters for survivors of GBV, offering counseling, legal aid, and rehabilitation programs. Through our interventions, we are creating a safer and more supportive environment for women and girls, free from violence and discrimination.

Economic empowerment is an integral part of ENAI-Africa’s gender development initiatives in South Rift Counties. We provide financial literacy training, access to microfinance, and business development support to women entrepreneurs. By enhancing their entrepreneurial skills and economic opportunities, we contribute to their financial independence and decision-making power. Through our programs, women in Kenya are breaking gender barriers, leading successful businesses, and positively impacting their families and communities.

Our primary mandate is to build the capacity of communities, with a special emphasis on gender equity and equality, sustainable food security, quality health, improved literacy and education systems, skills in social entrepreneurship, democracy and governance, and environment and natural resources management. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for pastoralist communities and fostering equitable and sustainable development.
